Tips for colouring time

  • Print at 100% (“actual size”) on regular letter paper. Thicker paper works best for markers or paint.
  • Read the story first. Then ask: what colour should Howard’s bandage be? Why did he need one?
  • Count the snowflakes around Howard while you colour, a sneaky bit of counting practice.
  • Classrooms and libraries are welcome to print as many copies as they need.

Meet Howard

This printable comes from Howard’s Sore Toe, a picture book in verse for ages 1–7 by Diane Paul, illustrated by Romi Caron. One cold, windy day, a curious teddy bear climbs down the stairs to see what’s outside, and finds a bigger adventure than he bargained for.
